Expert Evidence before VCAT, Proposed Brothel, Cheltenham

 

Public Place gave expert evidence regarding the likely social impact of a proposed brothel in Cheltenham. The brothel was proposed for a site located next door to the business premises of Carman’s Fine Foods. The staff at Carman’s are primarily female and the business prides itself on providing a family friendly workplace, where children are welcome. The evidence presented by Public Place assisted VCAT to find that the proposed location was inappropriate for a brothel, due to the impact it would have on the perceptions of Carman’s staff regarding the suitability of thier workplace as a place to bring children. Expert Evidence before the Victorian Commission for Gambling and Liquor Regulation, Proposed Dan Murphy’s Outlet, Cranbourne East

 

Public Place gave expert evidence regarding the likely social impact of a proposed Dan Murphy’s outlet in Cranbourne East. Public Place assessed whether the proposed outlet would encourage the misuse and abuse of alcohol and the likely impact of the outlet on the amenity of the local area. The evidence presented by Public Place assisted the Commission to be satisfied that an approval would not have unacceptable impacts. You can read the Commission’s decision here.

Expert Evidence before VCAT, Nelsons Place Residential Development, Williamstown

 

Public Place has given expert evidence regarding the likely social impact of a proposed high density development in Williamstown in two seperate VCAT hearing pertaining to different aspects of the development propsoal. The evidence covered issues such as the impact of the proposal on housing affordability and choice, and on demand for facilities and services in the local area. The evidence presented by Public Place assisted VCAT to be satisfied that an approval would have a positive impact on the local area by way of improving housing diversity, and that there would be no undue impacts resulting from increased demand for community facilities and services.
